ONE Properties proudly announces the award of its first public art commission in Calgary to Robin Arseneault.

Arseneault will create a human-scale, context-specific artwork entitled Balancing Act, at the BLVD Beltline site, a premium rental property located in the heart of the Beltline neighbourhood. The artwork will playfully explore ideas of imagined spectacle and the desired state of “balance”, while acknowledging the area’s histories and the site’s proximity to the nearby Stampede Park and developing East Victoria Park.

Arseneault is a Calgary-based artist whose mediums include sculpture, drawing, collage, and photography-based work. Arseneault holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from ACAD (now AUArts) and a Master of Fine Arts from Edinburgh College of Art. Arseneault is a recipient of the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artist Award and has been awarded grants from Canada Council for the Arts and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. She has exhibited her work across Canada and internationally, with her recent sculpture Falling Off the Log (2022), exhibited at Esker Foundation in Calgary.

Balancing Act will be Arseneault’s first public art commission in Calgary. The project is directed by Ellen Cunningham Art Consulting and Ciara McKeown of CMCK Public Art.

Stay tuned – we look forward to sharing more information in the coming months!
